## Autistic children and adults, including non-speaking individuals

Autism spectrum communication is a core focus of the practice. Laura has personally navigated raising a non-speaking autistic son, immersing herself for two decades in autism-specific approaches — including apraxia treatment, DIR/Floortime, sensory integration, oral motor therapy, prompting for speech sounds, sign language and Total Communication, tactile cueing (PROMPT), and multiple formats of ABA. That lived and clinical experience directly informs how she works with autistic clients of any age, including those who are non-speaking or minimally speaking.

## AAC users, from toddlers through adults

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is a specialty built from both professional training and firsthand experience — Laura's son received his first high-tech voice-output AAC device after years of advocating for it, and she rented, programmed, and implemented that device herself before formal training caught up. She has since worked with AAC users from toddlers through adults in schools and specialized settings, supporting device selection, implementation, and the communication partners around the AAC user — not just the device itself.

## Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (NJ DDD)

Laura provides speech-language therapy to adults with developmental disabilities, including services funded through NJ DDD, at no out-of-pocket cost to eligible individuals. This includes adults working on functional communication, community inclusion, transition-to-adulthood skills, and life skills — extending speech-language support well past the age most practices stop seeing clients.

## Apraxia, articulation, and stuttering

The practice treats childhood apraxia of speech, articulation and phonological disorders, and stuttering (fluency) across the age range she serves — from young children building early speech sounds to older children and adults refining intelligibility or working through fluency challenges.

## Social skills, transition, and adult communication coaching

For older children, teens, and adults, Laura works on social skills, community inclusion, and transition-to-adulthood goals — helping clients build the communication skills needed for daily life, work, and relationships outside the therapy room. She also offers communication coaching for adults on public speaking, interviews, business presentations, and professional presence, drawing on her own extensive experience in public speaking, interviews, business presentations, sales, and lobbying.

## Families needing IEP and special education support

Beyond direct therapy, Laura offers special education advocacy and IEP review for families navigating the school system — a natural extension of her Child Study Team experience and her own years advocating for her son's services.

Across every population she serves, Laura's approach stays consistent: therapy goals are set collaboratively with the client — whether that client is a toddler, teen, or adult — rather than imposed on them.
